Yes, even my God daughter Danny, Nephew Andrew, and, War hero dad find time to rest; I'm going to follow their lead! The funny news is, my dad snoozed during dinner on father's day at the William Penn Inn.
CAM PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY. Reduce ....Your STRESS Levels.
My physical well-being is in “excellent ” status, due to the fact that I consume a daily supply of organic fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and follow the Mediterranean pyramid. I also attend exercise classes 7 days a week, even if I am fatigued. My spiritual well-being is just okay due to the fact that I must have more faith in myself and god. My goal is to incorporate about 1 hour throughout the week for prayer and meditation (a” one on one” talk with God and a meditational water sounds). My psychological well-being is at a level 8 simply because I try to take mental breaks throughout the day to help sort, relax, and inspire my thoughts. It would be at a ten except for the fact that I do not get enough sleep. My goal is to become 100% in all three areas by incorporating yoga, sitting meditation, and social positive influences. I must make time to attend church and read my bible also; this helps me keep the faith. I recently made-up a plan to increase my mental processes by loving, understand, and excepting peoples behaviors. It helps to find the good in everyone.

This article not only defines stress, it also provided ways to identify the warning signs and appoints prevent steps that can you help reduce the pressures. When you feel defenseless, a chemical reaction occurs in your body that allows you to act in a way to prevent the mental upset. Sometime our physical and emotional state is also affected, therefore; we lash out. This reaction is known as "fight-or-flight,” or the stressor. A stressor is a stimulus that causes stress (Conrad –Stöppler, 2014). In other words, stress is the feeling we have when under pressure, while stressors are the things we respond to in our environment. Normally, when a person has a strong social supportive network, they experience less stress and fewer negative symptoms. People who lack this type of support very often appear stressed out. Stress management techniques truly help prevent the elevations of your stress levels (Conrad –Stöppler, 2014). Some of the most effective techniques include aerobic exercises, meditation, prayer, yoga and tai chi. The article also mentions deep breathing, massage therapies, visual imagery and acupuncture. Sadly enough, my problem stems from lack of sleep which inflicts havoc on my body and mind (Conrad –Stöppler, 2014). I finally made a commitment to follow the articles advice and learn relaxation techniques which help with my insomnia. This actions will give me the control I need over my stress and its effects on my physical and mental health.

This article provided factual data that examined the stress levels of individuals who are in a school or work setting. It also explains why the economy plays a major role in current everyday stressors. Let’s face it, the economy is still recovering from a Recession and, many individuals do not have homes. The American Psychological Association (APA) during the year of 2009, discovered there were three stressors that mainly effect people. The categories consisted of money, work, and the economy. I was happy to learn this nationwide online survey helped define the stress levels in the United States (Hatcher, 2011). The results showed, approximately a quarter of Americans conveyed having high stress levels in the previous month and more than 42 percent of people reported that their stress had increased in the previous year. In the conclusion of this article, after a period of five years, the stress management holistic treatments reduced cardiac events as compared to usual care and exercise alone (Hatcher, 2011).

Acupuncture is an ancient form of traditional Chinese medicine. It works on the principle of stimulating points in the body to correct imbalances in the flow of energy (Qi) through networks known as meridians. This belief is based on the interaction of the five elements (wood, fire, earth, metal and water) and having profound effects on internal organs, which are either yin or yang. CAM teachings have been in motion for over 5,000 years ( ATL MD, 2014). These meridians connect the surface of the body to the internal organs. By needling acupuncture points, the function of the internal organs can be adjusted affecting both mental and physical aspects of the patient. I selected this article because Anxiety is one of the greatest common mental illnesses worldwide. The article points out, once a person experiences a highly stressful or threatening scenario, the mind can be overloaded and fail to develop ways of coping (ATL MD, 2014). Sometimes it’s important to consider alternative medicines; they definitely have less side effects.
